Harvey Dent Two-Face In The Movies

Harvey Dent is a former District Attorney, who turns into a supervillain after mob boss Sal Maroni has acid thrown at him, burning half his face. Dent adopts the monicker Two-Face, perpetually obsessed with the duality of human existence. He is usually seen with his signature coin, which he flips to make important decisions.

Two-Face was played by Aaron Eckhart in Christopher Nolan’sThe Dark Knight. The Joker manipulates Dent after Rachel Dawes, who he was engaged to, dies during a hostage situation. Dent dies at the end of the film, with Christian Bale’s Batman taking the fall for his murder. While this iteration of Two-Face is conceptualized entirely by Nolan and his writing team, a more comic-accurate version was initially depicted inBatman Forever.

Joel Schumacher’sBatman Foreverwas a sequel to Tim Burton’sBatman Returns. While Jim Carrey’s Riddler is the main antagonist in the film,Batman Foreverfeatures Tommy Lee Jones portrays Two-Face. The film also depicts the character’s back story in the comics accurately.

Lee Jones’ campy portrayal andBatman Foreverwas panned by fans. This was exemplified by the director’s follow-up film, the disastrousBatman and Robin. While Lee Jones did not return for the sequel, his performance is widely regarded as a very comical version of the character.

Recently, Syl Abdul of Geekosity mentioned that his sources indicated the inclusion of Two-Face inThe Batman – Part II. He says,

“It was being floated around the last 48 hours about Two-Face…in The Batman – Part II, and it was kind of casually thrown out there, and then other people kind of picked it up. Other insiders…wouldn’t put too much stock into that. “I ran it by my sources. I think they’re on a pretty good roll…[and] it sounds like this is true.”

There is still no confirmation on whether or not Two-Face will be a part of the film, or who would be essaying the iconic character. With Matt Reeves at the helm, fans are assured that the filmmaker would do justice to the complex villain.
