While it may look like everything that happens in the MCU just flows naturally into the narrative, it’s the culmination of ideas and painstaking planning of a vision. Thus, Marvel Studios has to ensure that vision comes to life, connecting the dots along the way till they reach the end of the road. But with more than 15 years in the MCU, there are bound to be bumps along the way.

And for a company such as Marvel Studios, there were some big ones that they had to overcome to create an empire that we see before us today. The most prominent among these cases was when the Russo Brothers threatened to leave the MCU after the Creative Committee of the studios wanted to change the most crucial aspect ofCaptain America: Civil War.
The Russo Brothers Would’ve Quit Marvel If The Creative Committee Didn’t Stop Their Intervention
There is no need for introductions when it comes to the MCU, and the cinematic universe has earned that reputation and popularity through sheer resilience. From problems in individual films to the entire management, company PresidentKevin Feigeespecially, has ensured that everything in the franchise keeps running as smoothly as possible.
Even still, problems kept arising, and probably one of the most intense among them was the time whenThe Russo Brothersthreatened to leave Marvel Studios for good.

As reported inMCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios, whenCaptain America: Civil Warentered its pre-production phase, there was a lot of back and forth between the current Marvel Studios president and former Marvel Entertainment Chairperson Issac Perlmutter. This was, in turn, hurting the creation of the film.
Being a member of the Creative Committee in the past, it was reported that Perlmutter, along with many other executives, wanted to change the epic Team Captain Vs. Team Iron Man confrontation to something else entirely. Their reason was that they assumed no one from the audience would want to see superheroes fight each other, especially not The Avengers.

But this was something that was crucial for not just the film, but the MCU as well. Therefore, due to this excessive intervention in the creative expression of the filmmakers, Joe and Anthony Russo gave the ultimatum that Marvel could either let them create the film how they wanted, or they could just leave the project entirely. Thankfully, Marvel Studios went ahead with the prior choice.
Why WasCaptain America: Civil WarSo Important For The MCU?
Not only was the film important as the first major project in the MCU’s Phase Three plan, but it was also the film that would alter the narrative of the entire cinematic universe for the future.
Captain America: Civil Warsaw Tony Stark disagree with Steve Rogers on the complete sovereignty of the Avengers and wanted some level of government oversight on the team. This led to the epic battle between two factions of heroes for and against these ideas. With the conclusion of Rogers taking his leave from the team, it led to the events of Avengers: Infinity War with two separate groups fighting on different turfs during the war.
