Blake Lively has always been very vocal about her feelings toward feminism and the concept of women supporting and uplifting other women. Being one of the most influential individuals in Hollywood, the actress chooses to use her platform to spread awareness and positivity about things that she believes in. The best example of this was her recent post onInstagram, where she spoke about two of the biggest figures in the world, Taylor Swift and Beyoncé.

The actress recently attended the premiere of Beyoncé’s concert film for her tour,Renaissance, alongside Swift, and three shared pictures about the same. This caused quite a stir, not because of Lively, but because of the two artists, considering the media had been comparing the two for the entire year, trying to figure out who was more influential. The actress recently spoke about this, talking about how much she appreciates the support the two have for each other.

Taylor Swift and Beyoncé Were Pit Against Each Other

There is a common theme in media and general society of pitting women against each other, making it a constant competition to come out on top. this is especially true for successful women in any field. An example of this was seen this past year, with two of the most talked about and influential figures in the world,Taylor Swift, andBeyoncé, being constantly compared with each other, and the media crafting, a fictional fight between the two.

“And we see you over there on the internet, Comparing all the girls who are killing it, But we figured you out, We all know now, we all got crowns, You need to calm down,”Swift said in her song,You Need To Calm Down.

Taylor Swift

This is nothing new, as most women who have seen success have experienced this to a certain degree. This is so predictable, that Swift talked about this years ago in one of her songs, singing about the sexism faced by women in any industry inYou Need To Calm Down. Trying to put an into at least their ‘fight’, Beyoncé showed up to Swift’sEras Tour Film’spremier, and Swift did the same for herRenaissanceTourFilm premiere, breaking the internet.

Blake Lively Speaks Out On This

Taylor Swift did not attend this premier alone, taking one of her closest friends,Blake Lively, with her. Posting about this on herInstagram, the actress talked about how significant what the artist did was. She stated that it was their responsibility as women with influence, to help change this narrative and construct it for future generations. She confessed that when she was younger, she also fell victim to having that sort of mentality but as she grew up, she understood that this wasn’t how women should look at other women.

“When I grew up, women were always pit against one another. It took me until adulthood to see that the instinct for women to lift each other up to their highest potential is the norm not the exception. Most of my best friends are women who would’ve been packaged to me as threats or competition. It’s our job to show younger generations the power in aligning rather than dividing. All this to say, (Beyonce) and (Taylor Swift) neither of you have to be threatened by my pop stardom. There’s space for us all.”
