A new Marvel scoop suggests that Charlie Cox’s appearance as Daredevil in the upcoming Disney+ seriesEchois limited to one episode. It was announced last summer that the actor would reprise his role as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen in a newHawkeyespin-off show. Along with him is Wilson Fisk/Kingpin actor Vincent D’Onofrio.

Daredevilis one of Marvel Studios’ most successful franchises, having brought to the small screen in three seasons which ran from 2015 to 2018. The character also appeared in Marvel’sThe Defenders, a limited series featuring other street-level heroes, before the entire franchise was canceled. Matt Murdock eventually made it to the MCU when he appeared in a cameo scene in 2021’sSpider-Man: No Way Home.

Daredevil Will Only Have One-Episode Appearance InEchoSeries
In a tweet from Marvel scooperCanWeGetSomeToast, it was rumored thatCharlie Coxwould only appear in the second episode of Disney+’sEcho. There is also a word that the series would directly link to the events in Marvel’sDaredevil.
The insider also revealed that Disney+ would be dropping all episodes at once, a distant move from the streaming platform’s usual format of releasing Marvel shows. Whatever reason for this change of approach remains unknown.

Echo dropping ALL of its episodes at once feels like Marvel wants it out of people’s minds ASAP, which is unfortunate :/
Everything I’ve heard about this project sounds fantastic. At least we get a Daredevil cameo in Episode 2 ¯_(ツ)_/¯https://t.co/c1ddfvRZ0Y

Like Cox, D’Onofrio reprised his role as Wilson Fisk in the Disney+ seriesHawkeye. The show’s finale unveiled him as the adoptive uncle of Maya Lopez or Echo, portrayed by Alaqua Cox.

Both Daredevil and Kingpin have strong links with the character, and it has always been expected to see them make an appearance in the upcoming show. Created by Joe Quesada and David Mack for 1999’sDaredevil#9 issue, Maya Lopez is an upcoming force to be reckoned with.
Fans need not worry about Charlie Cox’s limited screen time inEchoas he will return for the first time again in a full-length series inDaredevil: Born Again. The show will consist of 18 episodes that will premiere in the Spring of 2024. Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk will go toe-to-toe once more for MCU’s Phase Five.

What We Know So Far AboutDaredevil: Born Again
Echowill serve as Daredevil’s real debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as his cameo inSpider-Man: No Way Homedid not entirely create much impact on the whole franchise (except give fans a mini heart attack).
While it has been rumored that the events in the Netflix adaptation will be considered MCU canon, the extent of it remains unknown. A tweet fromJack McBryan, co-founder of The Direct, shared more details about the matter:
“I have heard about a plot element in Born Again that directly refers to something that happened in Season 1 of Daredevil. Not like a surface-level general DD thing, but a very specific event that happened in Season 1. Things are looking good for the canon crowd.”
TheDaredevilreboot series will reportedly see the return ofJon Bernthalas Frank Castle/The Punisher; meanwhile, Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson, who played Karen Page and Foggy Nelson, are yet to be confirmed as part of the cast. After all, Marvel bossKevin Feigealready clarified thatDaredevil: Born Againis a brand-new story and not a sequel to the Netflix adaptation.
