After wrapping up his role as Captain America inAvengers: Endgame(2019), Chris Evans recalled his role as MCU’s Human Torch inFantastic Four(2005) and its sequel,Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer(2007). Thus, speaking with MTV News in 2022, the actor even confessed his desire to reprise his preferred role as Johnny Storm over Steve Rogers.

While Chris Evans seemed extremely hopeful about his appearance in the upcomingFantastic Fourreboot, Marvel seems to have ditched him for a newcomer. Reportedly finding their Johnny Storm in theStranger Thingsactor Joseph Quinn, MCU seemingly turned heads with the recent speculation.

Chris Evans Desired To Return As MCU’s Johnny Storm
Before Chris Evans associated with MCU for nearly a decade as Captain America, he appeared as Johnny Storm aka Human Torch in theFantastic Fourmovies. Although his roles were negatively reviewed inFantastic Four(2005) and its sequelFantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer(2007), Evans seemingly preferred being Human Torch over Captain America.
Reflecting upon his role as Johnny Storm before dedicating himself for a decade as Captain America in various MCU tentpoles,Chris Evansmentioned his desire to reprise his 2005 character. Speaking withMTV News, the actor expressed, “God, wouldn’t that be great?” when asked about his return as Johnny Storm.

“I mean, I don’t exactly look the same anymore. That was 15, almost 20 years ago. Oh my God, I’m old. But I really love that character,” Evans shared.
Further, being informed about theFantastic Fourreboot currently in development, the actor confessed how he would really appreciate the opportunity to play Human Torch, all over again. “I would love it. That would actually be an easier sell to me than coming back as Cap. Cap is so precious to me…But Johnny Storm, I feel like he didn’t really get his day.” Evans shared.

Marvel Reportedly Found Johnny Storm In Joseph Quinn
Following Chris Evans’ interview withMTV Newsin 2022, Marvel Studios began working full-fledgedly on theirFantastic Fourreboot, before the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes made the progress take the back seat. However, on a recent note, reports surfaced about the ongoing casting of the characters in the upcoming movie.
With director Matt Shakman promising to start filming and production by early 2025 to schedule its release later that year, Marvel seems to be focusing on the casting of the actors. Thus, reflecting on the casting news,Jeff Sneiderrecently revealed how MCU is reportedly eyeing a newcomer to play the role of Johnny Storm.

Allegedly ditching Chris Evans, despite his desire to reprise his role, MCU seems to have reportedly found its Human Torch in theStranger ThingsactorJoseph Quinn. Evidently, fans had been predicting something like this for quite a while. And although it’s still speculation since Quinn and MCU are left to comment on the report, fans appear overly excited.
