David McCallum Passed Away at the Age of 90
Making a name for himself with shows likeThe Man From U.N.C.L.E.,which inspiredHenry CavillandArmie Hammerstarrer 2015 action-adventure movie of the same name, actor David McCallum passed away on Monday, August 23, 2025, of natural causes. The actor passed away at the New York Presbyterian Hospital, surrounded by his family.
McCallum is survived by his wife Katherine Carpenter, who was married to the actor for 56 years before his death, and his children and grandchildren. His son Peter McCallum has described him as“the kindest, coolest, most patient and loving father”in a statement released after his passing. He further said, as perEntertainment Weekly,

“He always put family before self. He looked forward to any chance to connect with his grandchildren, and had a unique bond with each of them. He and his youngest grandson, Whit, 9, could often be found in the corner of a room at family parties having deep philosophical conversations.”
The late actor’s son said that his father was intrigued by science and culture and was deeply passionate about knowledge. He also revealed that his mother told him that she wanted to“grow old together”with her late husband. The actor is very well known for being dedicated to his craft.

David McCallum Loved Working in Hollywood
The actor has spent over seven decades working in the film industry and starred in several movies and TV shows. He has starred inN.C.I.S.,which first premiered in 2003, and also had a recurring role in its follow-up seasons. During a 2012 interview withVariety, theN.C.I.S.star was asked the reason he had continued working despite having spent six decades in the industry.
He explained that the reason he had continued working was because he loved his work.“I’m doing it because I absolutely love what I’m doing. I’m doing what I was born to do. And I’ve done it when I joined Equity in 1946,”the actor said.

He also said that he’s glad to have the show and his character, Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard, at that point in his career. Apart from his on-screen roles, David McCallum was also very well known for his work as a voice actor for animation shows and movies, likeThe ReplacementsandBen 10, along with several DC projects.
