DC recently announced a new story, co-written by Ron Marz and Andy Lanning. TitledEndless Winterand will be released throughout December 2020. It will tell the story of Hippolyta, Black Adam, Swamp Thing and the Viking Prince as they work together to defeat an ancient enemy known as the Frost King. The Frost Kings origin comes straight from Ragnarok, the legendary twilight of the Norse pantheon.
Writer Ron Marz stated “What goes on in the past very much dictates how this comes back in the present — and I guess we can say the threat is called the Frost King — how the mistakes in the past dictate how things go in the present and learning the lessons in the past is what is the necessary function for the Justice League now. There are connections to the past that dictate how things go in the present, both for good and for ill.”
The story will be a nine-issue arc, covering the confrontation between the Frost Kings battle with the ancient heroes and the effects of it in the current day with the Justice League. Rather than being a complete nine issue series, it will be split into specials and tie-ins with other comics. Including:
Set to be a massive crossover event with exciting visuals and the formation of old and new characters, Endless Winter is set to be a bold and fun new event to be on the same level as other current stories likeDark Nights: Death MetalandThe Joker War.
