James Gunn and Peter Safran have officially given out the first chapter of the DCU. The first slate is labeled as Gods and Monsters and will introduce new characters while rebooting those that have already been established in the franchise. The chapter is set to bring the DC Universe in a new light away from its past projects while still maintaining the best.

Now that the projects have been revealed, the slate is set to kick off by 2025. However, it has left fans wondering as to when and how these would be released. While the rumors of a secret slate have been circulating, no proper dates or schedules for the current chapter have been announced yet.

How Does James Gunn Plan To Release The DCU Projects?
The DCU could possibly be taking a direction similar to that of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to Peter Safran andJames Gunn, the franchise is planning on releasing at least two movies in the cinemas and two projects on HBO Max each year. This could not only give the franchise a good start which could be well-paced, but also give the fans a well-distributed viewing of content. The titles announced as of now include movies likeThe Brave and the Boldand series likeParadise Lost.
Other titles outside the main DCU, falling under the Elseworlds category includeThe Batman 2, Joker: Folie à Deux, andThe Penguin. While the sequel to Robert Pattinson’s movie is scheduled to be released by 2025, other projects will possibly begin unfolding around the same time. Fans would have to wait for a while for all these projects to be turned into perfection. However, seeing what the DCU has in store for them, it is only an uphill journey. Seeing the position that the franchise as well as Warner Bros. Discovery is in at the moment, their goals may take some time.

Warner Bros. Discovery Could Be Bought Out
Warner Bros. Discovery as well as The CW had revealed previously that for years they have not made profits. This has led to the company hoping for it to possibly be merged with or be bought by bigger services such as Amazon or Apple. One theory even suggests that the first chapter and the released slate are purely a way to attract buyers and make them interested in the franchise.
If this plan were to go forward, there could be changes for future slates, setting an even more spread-out schedule or with more projects. The response for the already revealed projects will also determine any future plans that the DCU may be planning.
