The uncertainty regarding her character’s future in the MCU has led to speculations that her tenure in the MCU is over, A recent article fromScreenRantdebunks that speculation as there has been no official news or confirmation regarding her exit from the MCU.
The article addressed the lack of news regarding a second season ofWandaVisionby saying that there was never going to be a second season, as the series was promoted as a limited series. It has only been a year since she made an appearance inDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.Her (supposed) death in the film might be also a sign that Marvel plans to take a break from the character for a while and bring her back with a bang later in the future. She has already been in continuous films and projects over the past 4-5 years, so Marvel may want to avoid overexposure to the character.

Elizabeth Olsen is Happy to Get to Explore Other Non-MCU Roles
Elizabeth Olsen has time and again expressed her love and the impact that the character has had in her career. Scarlet Witch made her popular among the masses and is the most recognizable role of her career. She has addressed how she has no idea about her future in the MCU afterDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.She has also moved on to other projects while on her break from the MCU. When asked about whether she misses playing the character, she toldVariety,
“I don’t. I think it’s been almost 10 years of playing her. And I’ve loved it. And I think the reason why I am not calling Kevin Feige every day with ideas is because I’m really proud of what we were able to do. I think WandaVision was a really surprising opportunity. If someone were to tell me that I’m fired from Marvel movies, I will feel proud of what we made. And I really am just trying to figure out how to load up other films and characters so it becomes less about the Marvel of it all”
It seems both Marvel and Olsen decided to take a brief break from the character so that the studio could focus on newer characters and Olsen could also do other exciting non-MCU projects. It remains to be seen when the studio plans to bring her back. Meanwhile, fans can watch Olsen’s terrifying and nuanced performance as Candy in her HBO limited seriesLove and Death, streaming on Max.
