The latest Chapter of The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO), Gold Road, introduces a new system called Scribing. This system allows players to create and modify 11 different Grimoires or Spells. In our ESO guide, we list all Scribing Grimoires and Scripts. All Grimoires in ESO Scribing
Below is a list of all Grimoires in Elder Scrolls Online:
Traveling Knife
The Traveling Knife Grimoire is from the Dual Wield skill line and is a 15-meter stamina throw that returns to you. Traveling Knife Grimoire is one of the strongest spells due to its range, damage, and utility. This spell can be customized as a main spammable, range, damage over time, buff, or stun. Moreover, this spell has two damage components after a short delay, which can trigger additional class passives and set bonuses. Thus, consider the number one damage dealer Grimoire to unlock and experiment with.
The Vault Grimoire is from the Bow skill line and acts as a 6-meter radius bow attack that flips the caster backward. Vault is a valuable PvP bow skill with a massive boon for mobility. However, this skill isn’t likely used in PvE content, outside of leveling, or for fun.
Mender’s Bond
The Mender’s Bond Grimoire is from the Restoration Staff skill line and is a 20-meter range tether to an ally and effect in between. Mender’s Bond is difficult to activate and complex to stay attached to the target. The strength of the Grimoire is the variety of buffs it can apply to the target and anything touching the beam. However, players must be attached or constantly within the beam to use the skill.
Elemental Explosion
The Elemental Explosion Grimoire is from the Destruction Staff skill line and is 28 meters with a 10-meter radius channel and effect. The upside of the skill is that it is a massive area; however, the cast time is dreadful. The cast time is long, and you’ll be vulnerable, though it gives support and builds powerful buffs and debuffs.
Shield Throw
The Shield Throw Grimoire is from the Sword and Shield skill line and acts as a 28-meter shield throw that hits enemies and returns to the caster. Shield Throw has potential in PvE and PvP due to the sheer volume of buffs and debuffs. Moreover, this skill is perfect for any class that lacks a ranged stun.
The Smash Grmioire is from the Two-Handed skill line and acts as an 8-meter cone attack in front of you using stamina—smash functions like a cone-based damage spammable. However, the Torchbearer Grimoire will likely do more damage and trigger additional effects due to its three attacks within a short duration. Consider this a helpful skill if you use mainly Two-Handed skills and need an area-based spammable attack.
Soul Burst
The Soul Burst Grimoire is from the Soul Magic skill line and acts as an area-based buff of debuff skill around the caster. Soul Burst skill is a powerful skill area around your spell that can buff, debuff, shield, immobilize, and stun. This is helpful for any tank or healer in PvE, alongside an on-demand crowd control for any class in PvP. Moreover, you can obtain unique buffs like Minor Courage from this spell, making it robust for support and player vs. player content.
Wield Soul
The Wield Soul Grimoire is from the Soul Magic skill line and acts as a 28-meter magic attack at a target. Wield Soul is meant to be a ranged main spammable. The downside of this attack is that it’s a single target, and to gain area damage, you sacrifice a lot. This is a helpful attack if your class lacks a pure magic ranged spammable option.
Torchbearer
The Torchbearer Grmioire is from the Fighters Guild skill line and acts as an 8-meter 1.5-duration sweep before you, hitting three times. The Torchbearer skill functions similarly to jabs (Templar skill) in previous patches. A 1.5-duration damage ability hits a cone with three attacks. The three attacks in a short window can trigger additional effects and class passives. Moreover, you can reduce damage while using the ability to give you an edge. Consider this a good melee skill that does single target and AOE jabs every class or sweep.
Contingency
The Contingency Grimore is from the Mages Guild skill line and is a 24-second duration buff. The spell triggers an additional effect when you reach a certain resource amount, like sub 25%. This can be a helpful replacement for a back bar buff like Psijic Order Channeled Acceleration.
The Trample Grimoire is from the Assault and Support skill line and acts as a 5-meter radius, 2-second cast time charging mount in front of you. Trample is the oddest of all Grimoires because of its long cast time and weird animation. The benefit of this Grimoire is it uses your equipped mount to launch forward. Thus, you may flex your fancy mounts to fellow players obnoxiously.
