Aliens have recently become a hot topic of discussion on social media. However, the mystery behind extraterrestrial life has intrigued people since time immemorial. There’s just something about the unknown! Many have even claimed to have sighted UFOs in the sky and this includes the God of Visuals, Guillermo del Toro himself.

Guillermo Del Toro

Known for his visually striking films, the Mexican filmmaker recalled the time when an innocent outing with his buddy turned into a UFO chase. However, what’s more, fascinating than the alleged UFO sighting is the reaction Guillermo del Toro had to the flying saucer. The supposed vehicle from outer space failed to impress the filmmaker as Guillermo del Toro thought the design was horrible.

If you think it is easy to impress the filmmaker responsible for visually stunning films likePan’s Labyrinth, you might need to think twice. After all, the supposed proof of extraterrestrial life in front of his eyes didn’t do much to force the filmmaker to tip his hat.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter,Guillermo del Torowas asked about the time he encountered ghosts in his life to which he replied,“No, I’ve never seen it. I’ve heard them, twice. I’ve heard ghosts twice and I saw a UFO.”And suddenly, all the attention was turned toward the alleged UFO sighting, and rightly so.

Del Toro continued describing the events that led to the sighting. He stated that he and his friend decided to buy beer, sit under the stars and talk about their lives. And while you may believe that the sighting was due to del Toro being under the influence of alcohol, he clarified that they were yet to take a sip when the incident happened.

“I was with a friend… we didn’t consume, we bought a six-pack. We didn’t consume it and there was a place called Cerro del Cuatro, Mountain of the Four, and outside, in the periphery of Guadalajara. We said, ‘Let’s go to the highway.’ We sit down to watch the stars and have the beer and talk. We were the only guys by the freeway. And we saw a light on the horizon going [gestures], super-fast, not linear like [gestures]. And I said, ‘Honk and flash the lights.’ And we started honking.”

Despite being scarred to the bones, del Toro couldn’t help but notice how poorly the UFO was made. He told the media outlet, “I know this is horrible. You sound like a complete lunatic, but I saw a UFO. I didn’t want to see a UFO. It was horribly designed.”

“It was a flying saucer. So clichéd, with lights going like this. It’s so sad. I wish I could reveal they’re not what you think they are. They are what you think they are.”

Only someone with as much credibility as del Toro can acknowledge the faults in the design of a UFO!

This Was the Scariest Experience of Guillermo del Toro’s Life

Continuing, del Toro described the event as the scariest moment of his life and recalled how the UFO had other-worldly super-speed, nothing like anything he had seen before. He said, “And it went from there to here — like 1,000 meters away — in less than a second and it was so crappy.”

Talking about the fear that was running through his veins, del Toro remembered jumping back into his car and driving away really fast as the supposed UFO followed the vehicle.

“And the fear we felt was so primal. Seriously, like I have never been that scared ever in my life. We jumped in the car, drove really fast. I kept looking. It was following us. And then I looked back and it was gone. So, you know, judge me. I have no implant.”

While there is no way to know if that was an actual UFO making rounds of our planet, del Toro sure is convinced! Judging by his fear, who knows, maybe it was a UFO after all? Do you believe in extraterrestrial life?
