In the documentary titledThe Making of Raiders of the Lost Ark,Star Warscreator George Lucas revealed some information that indirectly made the blame fall on Clint Eastwood. Talking about the producer named Phil Kaufman had a direct role to play in the delay ofRaiders of the Lost Ark.During the early stages of Lucas pitching the film to Phil Kaufman, the producer was quite excited to work on the film.
Kaufman quickly switched sides when he offered his financial aid to Clint Eastwood. As per the reports, Frank Kaufman was sure that Eastwood’s film would be more successful than George Lucas’ story which wasn’t that famous at that time.
Unfortunately for the producer, he was removed from the Clint Eastwood film and also lost his part inRaiders of the Lost Ark.TheHarrison Fordmovie wouldn’t have faced a delay in the release if the producer hadn’t switched sides. Following Kaufman’s departure, it has been speculated that he went on to work onThe Outlaw Josey Wales.
