Everything you need to know about Arkveld in Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta, and how to fight and defeat it within the given time limit.

Monster Hunter Wilds’ flagship monster, Arkveld, is easily the toughest challenge in the Open Beta. Much likeNergiganteandMagnamalobefore it, the encounter against Arkveld is a test of not only your combat skills but also efficiency. Although the weapons and armor you have access to in the Beta are Low Rank,Arkvelditself is a High Rank monster. Suffice it to say, that alone makes the encounter against the chained behemoth an incredibly difficult undertaking.

If that was not enough, the Arkveld Advanced Quest has a time limit of just20 minutes. This not only makes the battle difficult but also somewhat unfair, considering most quests in the Beta have a time limit of at least 30 minutes, if not more.

However, despite that, it is possible to defeat Arkveld. Although it’s a difficult battle by design, it’s not an impossible one. Here are some tips that should help you fight and defeatArkveldin Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta.

Arkveld’s Weaknesses and Strengths in Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta

Arkveld is one of the new monsters debuting in the series with Monster Hunter Wilds. Although it looks a lot like aFlying WyvernorElder Dragon, it’s classified as neither of those. Instead, Arkveld is part of a yet unknown “Extinct Species” category of monsters. Even though you’re able to fight (and defeat) Arkveld in the Beta, you won’t be able to extract much information from it.

However, while fighting Arkveld, we did find out a few things that might be of interest. Although the monster seems to be using aThunder/Paralysisailment with its chains, it’s in fact aDragon Element. Furthermore, Arkveld, based on the quest description, is capable of siphoning elemental energy from other monsters.

Although there isn’t anyTurf Warfor Arkveld in the Beta, the main game will likely have a few. During those Turf Wars, Arkveld might siphon elemental energy from other monsters. This might also hint at the monster’s ability to shift elements, akin toAlatreon. As for breakable parts, Arkveld’s forelimbs, horns, and tail are breakable rather easily (in the Beta). You can also break the monster’s back, but since it’s armored, it’s not as easy as other parts of its body. It should be noted that elemental damage doesn’t seem to have much effect on Arkveld.

Lastly, do note that Arkveld is made to feel like an insurmountable challenge. This has always been a thing with flagship monsters in Monster Hunter Betas. Monster Hunter Rise’s Beta featured its flagship,Magnamalo, with a 15-minute time limit. Despite the incredibly high difficulty, these monsters can be defeated within the set time, albeit with a lot of practice and perseverance.
