Discover the location of the Mountain Yamabushi in Assassin’s Creed Shadows for the Yamabushi Imposters quest.
The Mountain Yamabushi is part of theYamabushi Impostersquest line in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The Yamabushi Imposters disguise themselves as itinerant monks to commit atrocities and prey on local communities. While progressing the main Onryo storyline in Shadows, Naoe and Yasuke are made aware of the Yamabushi Imposters and take it upon themselves to deal with them.
Among the imposters, the Mountain Yamabushi is particularly unique in the circumstances of his discovery. You can complete the Mountain Yamabushi mission with either of the playable characters.
Where to Find the Mountain Yamabushi in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?
Open the Mission Board and navigate to the Yamabushi Imposters targets. Select the Mountain Yamabushi from the group. Your information indicates that he:
To locate the Mountain Yamabushi, you will first have to find the Kawachi Kaza-ana Cave in Omi and enter it. The cave is east of Lake Biwa, north of Suzuka Foothills, and directly south of the Ibu Highlands. With this information, you may use a scout to pinpoint the location or use the map image to navigate.
Keep in mind that the image marked on the map is that of the Kawachi Kaza-ana Cave and not the exact location of the Mountain Yamabushi. You will find the target soon after entering the cave.
As you enter Kawachi Kaza-ana Cave, turn left from the bonfire to find a small, blood-smeared tunnel leading further into the cave. There will be a path to the right, and an opening straight ahead which you’re able to reach by jumping on the rock in front.
You will want to take the straight route, especially if you have entered the cave in winter. As you reach the opening, you will find the corpse of the Mountain Yamabushi ahead of you. Search it to retrieve a letter and complete the mission.
What Killed the Mountain Yamabushi?
If you have entered the Kawachi Kaza-ana Cave in winter, you will soon find the Mountain Yamabushi’s terrifying killer. Just ahead of his body, a Yuki Onna sits next to a bonfire. Yuki Onna is part of The Yokai questline. you’re able to trigger the quest by speaking with Mamushi in Nyoiji Daiji Temple. The Yokai are rumored supernatural entities that have been terrorizing Japan.
Yuki Onna is the strongest Yokai you’re able to encounter. She plagues the mountains in Omi during the winter months, luring young men to their deaths to feast on them. As you approach her, she becomes aware of your presence, and says, “You smell delicious, come closer.” It appears that the Mountain Yamabushi was bewitched and killed by the Yuki Onna.
If you take her on, know that Yuki Onna is a level 38 enemy and can deal heavy damage with her attacks. Her moveset is somewhat predictable, and using weapons with high single-target damage can bring her down fairly quickly. Defeating her will reward you with 2,000 XP, two Mastery Points, and a level 38 weapon.
