Apparently one of his strict rules originates from his deep resentment towards streaming platforms. During a discussion withDeadlineabout his retirement after 60, the director purposefully took a dig at Ryan Reynolds’ Netflix movies.
Slamming the idea of streaming movies on OTT platforms to make a fortune out of it, Quentin Tarantino subtly criticized Ryan Reynolds’ movies. Justifying why Reynolds’ movies aren’t memorable enough, Tarantino mentions his plans to deal with streaming platforms after retiring from the motion picture business.

Quentin Tarantino Slams Ryan Reynolds’ Netflix Movies
Beginning the conversation withDeadlineregarding his retirement from the motion picture business, Quentin Tarantino lauded Sony’s commitment to financing theatrical films. Diving deep into the conversation about Sony’s commitment, which keeps away from feeding streaming platforms, the director took a dig at Ryan Reynolds’ collaboration with Netflix.
“I mean, and I’m not picking on anybody, but apparently for Netflix, Ryan Reynolds has made $50 million on this movie and $50 million on that movie and $50 million on the next movie for them. I don’t know what any of those movies are. I’ve never seen them.”
DissingRyan Reynoldsfor his collaboration with Netflix and streaming his movies on the OTT platform, Quentin Tarantino criticized the actor for his process of making a fortune. Happy with the traditional method of determining the success of the movie by counting the heads in the theatres, Tarantino mentioned never watching Reynolds’ movies.
“I haven’t ever talked to Ryan Reynolds’ agent, but his agent is like, ‘Well, it cost $50 million.’ Well, good for him that he’s making so much money.” He further added, “Butthose movies don’t exist in the zeitgeist. It’s almost like they don’t even exist.”
Going rogue on theDeadpoolactor, Tarantino trolled Reynolds for making money out of movies that aren’t even memorable enough due to their absence in the zeitgeist.

Quentin Tarantino’s Plans After Retirement From Directing
After purposefully slamming the Hollywood A-lister for releasing his movies on streaming platforms and making a fortune out of it,Quentin Tarantinowas asked about his honest opinions on streaming platforms. During his interview withDeadline, the interviewer asked, “Hasthe streaming business damaged cinema irrefutably?” to which Tarantino offered a rather diplomatic reply.
“Well, I don’t think I’m that negative about it. I think it had been going that way and the pandemic hurried everything along,”
Analyzing the director’s way of withdrawing from offering his candid thoughts, the interviewer further asked, “If you’re retiring from the motion picture business, as you insist you are, won’t you be feeding that beast anyway?” Thus, finding a better way of putting his thoughts into words, the acclaimed filmmaker discussed his idea.
“I’ve got no axe to grind against television, but everyone watches all these shows, and they’re all just soap operas.It’s very engaging while you’re watching it. But when it’s over with…I usually don’t have the same feelings that I have after I watch a good movie. Yet, when I’m watching it, it’s compelling.”
