Wright has several acclaimed titles and had the opportunity to delve more into popular franchises likeStar TrekandMission Impossible. However, the director couldn’t directly make it as he was engaged in other projects he loved.

“Yes, but I mean it was it was literally like a timing thing because to do it I would I mean you know, it might seem ironic now because I think I, to do it, I would have had to not done the Press with Scott Pilgrim like sort of, I mean, I guess, but that said I you have to kind of be there for the movie. So it’s just one of those things like where you know like um, I also, it’s that thing where I, sometimes when you really enjoy a series and I love those films,”Wright told Josh Horowitz onHappy Sad Confusedpodcast.

Although Wright had to reject the project he had immense love for the franchise. And he certainly, doesn’t have any regrets as the film turned out to be another blockbuster from the popular franchise.

Edgar Wright Doesn’t Regret Passing onMission: Impossible 4
Wright was not entirely away from the movie as he looked at the rough cuts and gave it some very valuable advice and insights for the film.“I mean it’s it’s h it’s amazing to sort of like be in included in those,”Wright told Horowitz.
“It’s a great email to get from like Chris McQuarrie saying, ‘hey we need another song for the Jukebox in Top Gun Maverick.’ I’m saying, ‘give me 45 minutes do’ is like make a playlist of like songs that could be in Top Gun. But um, yeah, the thing is that like things are meant to things are sort of meant to be when they’re meant to be and sometimes if you love a series you almost don’t want to be the thing that could possibly f*ck it up,”Wright added.

Further, the director added,“I love the Mission Impossible series I don’t regret kind of passing on that thing because Brad Bird’s film was great.”And“I loved it and I was like first you know their like opening day to see it.”Wright also stated that he didn’t sit in the theater thinking that he would have done it better because the film was already a well-crafted film to Wright’s belief.
