Marvel Studios is no stranger to grand-scaled stories. For a franchise as big as the Marvel Cinematic Universe, one big story made in fragments of smaller, scattered parts of a world is more of a habit than anything else. To establish a big bad across numerous different projects and to grip an audience about more than one character with just enough depth, the studio is known for living up to the fans’ expectations.
At least, it used to be. Being credited for some of the biggest films likeCaptain America: The Winter SoldierandAvengers: Infinity War,Marvel Studios also stands with projects likeShe-HulkandAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.Each of the latter projects had problems that could have easily been fixed but because of reasons, they were overlooked. The current problem that is faced, however, is with Jonathan Majors and how his character became the sole navigator of the entire franchise’s current phase.

Marvel Studios May Find Itself in a Big Problem
According toVariety, a spokesperson who saw the finale of the second season ofLokistated that the dependency of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Kang is something that can easily be termed as dangerous territory. Although there is nothing wrong with the villainous character in particular, it is more so about Jonathan Majors’s tainted reputation.
“Marvel is truly f*cked with the whole Kang angle,”stated a source who had access to the finale ofLoki’ssecond season. “And they haven’t had an opportunity to rewrite until very recently [because of the WGA strike]. But I don’t see a path to how they move forward with him.”
After being accused of alleged domestic abuse, there had been a lot of back and forth regarding the truth behind the matter. Putting aside the verdict that is yet to be decided, the harm that came to his reputation was not one that could be taken away so easily. Apart from that, there had been one trouble after another for Marvel Studios. Starting with the pandemic to the Writers’ and Actors’ strikes. It was as if one problem quickly followed another, without allowing room for either to be solved. There could be a possibility though, that he gets replaced ultimately.

Could Kang Get Replaced in the MCU?
Jonathan Majors’Kang is one character that the entire MCU is relying on a little too much. Although Thanos had been the big bad of the MCU for quite some time, it was not as if he was the driving force of the franchise. His existence was set up gradually and with proper care. For Kang, he seems to be everywhere. Although having a connection withLokiseems to be the best place, there are various other angles where he feels to be out of place.
The strikes made it almost impossible for the franchise to take any actions with regard to his character but now that it is settling, a rewriting and different outlook may not be a bad idea. It may be all topsy-turvy to begin with, but things could settle casually, and gradually. There could be space for the character to have an effect much like Thanos than of Kang and the Council of Kangs. To create a villain that divides not only the fans but also characters within the franchise. To some Thanos was right, to some he took everything. It is not to create a villain that gets reactions out of people but to create one that leaves a lasting impact.
