Late actress Carrie Fisher is one of the most recognized actresses. Her role as Princess Leia in theStar Warsfranchise has been an irreplaceable part of pop culture. And her chemistry with Harrison Ford, who played Han Solo in the films, is still considered to be iconic.

Fisher and Ford were not just an on-screen couple, but an off-screen one as well. The actress revealed in her memoir that the two had an intense love affair during filming. Years later, Fisher still had only nice things to say about the veteran action star.

One of the most endearing aspects of the trilogy is the relationship between Han Solo and Leia. The enemies-to-lovers trope perfectly suits them and the chemistry between the actors was amazing. Hence, fans of the franchise were ecstatic when they got to know thatCarrie Fisherand Harrison Ford had a love affair during the filming ofStar Wars: A New Hope.

The information was revealed by Fisher herself in her memoirThe Princess Diarist,which was released a few months before her death. Fisher was nineteen when the sci-fi space opera was being filmed and was reportedly one of the few women on the crew. Ford was thirty-three at the time and was married to Mary Marquardt.

Fisher revealed that they started a love affair during filming and she reportedly called it a “three-month one-night-stand.” She toldPeople Magazine,

“It was so intense. It was Han and Leia during the week, and Carrie and Harrison during the weekend.”

Talking about the affair and Ford in her memoirThe Princess Diarist (via People), she said,

“I looked over at Harrison. A hero’s face — a few strands of hair fell over his noble, slightly furrowed brow. How could you ask such a shining specimen of a man to be satisfied with the likes of me?…“I was so inexperienced, but I trusted something about him. He was kind.”

The affair apparently ended after filming forStar Warswrapped. Harrison Ford divorced his wife Mary Marquardt in 1979.

Carrie Fisher Only Had Nice Things To Say About Harrison Ford

Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, andHarrison Fordbecame household names after the firstStar Warsmovie and they reprised their roles in theStar Wars Holiday Specialas well as the two sequels in the original trilogy. After almost forty years, the trio reunited inStar Wars: The Force Awakens, where they reprised their roles as Leia, Luke, and Han Solo.

During the promotions forThe Force Awakens, Fisher spoke about her appearance in the film itself and she mentioned toABC News,

“The parts where I’m in it are distressing…I got older, and no one told me. And then they put me on a screen really, really big. They put me in high def.”

She also had nice things to say about her co-star and former lover, with whom she shared screen space inThe Force Awakens. The actress reportedly had nothing new to say to Ford apart from appreciating the fact that he was still fit. She said,

“Harrison looks really good. And he works at it too, though. But he also was born with, you know, a DNA jackpot type thing.”

When this was mentioned to Harrison Ford, he merely said thank you. Carrie Fisher passed away in 2016 and she appeared posthumously in the subsequent films in the sequel trilogy through archival footage.
