Matt Damon has worked with a great many number of actors and directors, all contributing to his fame as a celebrity in the Hollywood industry. One such figure happened to be John Malkovich. Having worked with the actor inRounders,it was an opportunity of a lifetime for Damon. So much so that everyone on set was extremely excited to meet him as well. As such, one experience that happened the first time he had a table read with Damon got engrained in his mind in the best way possible. Especially when Malkovich confessed that he believes himself to be a terrible actor.

John Malkovich Had Massive Influence on the Set

Matt Damonhad yet to meetJohn Malkovichwhen he signed up for theRounders.Speaking withBBC, the actor confessed that the atmosphere while on set was filled with awe because of how legendary Malkovich’s reputation is. So when it came to meeting him during a table read, he was met with an unexpected acting performance.

“When he finally shows up, he gets there and, you know, I mean it’s like, at that point he’s walking on water and we do the first take and John goes, ‘If you don’t have my money then you are mine.’ And I’m sitting across the table from like, ‘I’m sorry what did you just say?'” He continued, “And the crew burst into applause, they’re cheering they’re like, ‘Wow amazing, amazing.'”

While doing Malkovich’s impression, Damon explained as to how from across the table he got in his zone easily, getting into the role of his character in a flawless manner. This, in turn, made the entire cast and crew present there to be in a state of awe.

Matt Damon Got a Confession Out of John Malkovich

During his talk with BBC, Matt Damon revealed that although everyone on set was applauding for John Malkovich, he was dumbfounded. He kept staring at the actor without a word and could not believe his eyes or ears about what he had just witnessed.

“And I’m looking at him and I guess he sees me looking at him and he leans across the table and I leaned in. He looks at me and goes, ‘I’m a terrible actor.'”

Upon seeing Damon’s reaction, Malkovich leaned forward and confessed to the actor that he did not think himself to be a good actor.
