The video game-inspired HBO seriesLast of Uswowed the audience with its smashing plotline and talented actors this year. Set in a post-apocalyptic era infested with deadly zombies, the show has drawn significant views since its premiere on August 01, 2025.

The leading characters of Ellie and Joel, led by Pedro Pascal and young actor Bella Ramsey, will be reappearing for Season 2. At only 20 years old, Ramsey has captured hearts worldwide with their talents.
However, the actor now plans to expand their boundaries and make room for versatility. In a recent interview, Ramsey revealed that they are eyeing for an antagonist role. With their success playing the comparatively demanding role of the drug addict inmate Kelsey Morgan inTime,Ramsey expressed their confidence in taking up different roles. They talked about playing one DC character that is worshipped by Batman fans.

Bella Ramsey seeks interesting roles
In the current times, gender or race-swapping superheroes is not much of a big deal unless comic fans are up to it. It majorly depends on the actor’s approach to it. Likewise, the Nottingham-born actor is keen on playing Batman’s arch-nemesis, the Joker. Speaking to LADbible, Ramsey opened up about their expectations from upcoming roles, revealing that a complex and perplexing villain is on their list for sure.Bella RamseytoldLADbible,
“I’ve not really played a villain yet. So I want to play a baddy. But like a really interesting, intricate, complex baddy.”

With prior portrayals from iconic actors like the late Heath Ledger and in 2019’sJokerby Academy Award-winner Joaquin Phoenix, it seems far-reaching. Even though the bar is set pretty high, Ramsey, a BAFTA winner, might not disappoint. On playing Joker in the future, Ramsey stated,
“Yeah. I was actually thinking that as well. The Joker, someone really interesting like that.”

The source also stated that Ramsey might also be willing to don a character much like the serial killer Hannibal Lecter, significantly portrayed by Anthony Hopkins.
Although, the young actor also has some defining accolades under their name. Ramsey was named in the BAFTA Breakthrough List alongside 41 other talented actors this year in addition to a BAFTA award in 2019.

Bella Ramsey’s success over the years
The English actor’s on-screen debut came with HBO’s popular TV seriesGame of Thrones,where they played the niece, Lyanna Mormont, of the Lord Commander of The Night’s Watch. This was Ramsey’s breakout role, at only 13, which earned them impressive recognition to be cast in other features. After GOT concluded in 2019, fans got a glimpse of them in Season 2 of BBC’sTime.
Their moving portrayal of the drug addict earned them a spot on the Breakthrough List. Ramsey said,
“It’s, it’s a big honour. I think the word like BAFTA comes with so much prestige. Which is quite weird that I’m now associated with that. But really lovely. And yeah, an honour, I’m excited.”
However, they also expressed that the role was challenging. Ramsey was on their own, without her mum, while shooting forTimeand also had to put in great work to ace the role. Ramsey’s optimistic perspective on taking up versatile characters is what hints towards a brighter future in the industry.
