Vera Farmigaand her sisterTaissa Farmigaare prominent faces inThe Conjuringfranchise which had its first spin-off prequel in 2018 namelyThe Nun. Apart from their expected physical resemblance as siblings, the Farmiga sisters’ characters also seem to be deeply connected beyond the surface. For starters, both characters are seen to have had visions from God which sparked off initial theories about them being connected through their bloodlines. Director Michael Chaves spoke toSlash Filmand confirmed that audiences might well be on the right track about the characters.

“I mean, I think from the beginning it was too much of a coincidence to have nearly identical sisters in the same movie. I think it was always part of the ultimate goal is to tie them in and I think that there’s always been a connection.”

The Nunfilmmaker also dangled another carrot in front of audiences by stating that there were significant clues regarding the connection between Sister Irene and Lorraine Warren in the film, if one looked at them in closer detail.

When Michael Chaves’The Nunwas released in 2018, it received mixed reviews despite faring well at the box office. The main reason for this was due to the reputation ofThe Conjuringfilms which were critically appreciated. Now, Taissa Farmiga is back reprising her role as Valak withThe Nun 2and from the initial responses, the film looks to be a big improvement on its predecessor. According to reports coming in, the scares, the intensity, and the shocking third act all seem to be getting praise.

This time, the critics have also lent their support by showing their appreciation towards the film. Many experts commented on the quality of the jump scares that had them sitting at the edge of their seats while others lauded the intensity of the scenes that kept them engaged throughout.
