This year, a group of Marvel executives, including studio chief Kevin Feige, gathered in Palm Springs for the studio’s annual retreat. This time, the occasion was a bit arrogant because Marvel faced on-screen disappointments and a legal scandal involving Jonathan Majors.

More than that, there are concerns about the production quality of TV streaming series, which left everyone at the studio in a state of shock.
That’s not it. MCU had a disappointing 2022, with many considering it downright awful (even 2023 also went the same). But to compensate for that, Marvel used the producer of Robert Downey Jr.’sIron Manto divert attention from their own issues.

Marvel BlamedIron ManProducer for VFX Issues to Save Kevin Feige
Disney executives were extremely upset with Marvel’s VFX issues. So, a month after theQuantumaniapremiere problems, the guillotine fell on Victoria Alonso (who managed production, post-production, VFX, and animation).
The reason behind her firing was her unauthorized role as an executive producer on the Oscar-nominated filmArgentina,1985.However, according to insiders, Disney was more concerned about the declining quality of Marvel productions — especially in their expanding TV ventures.

As is evident in Disney+ series likeWandaVisionandShe-Hulk: Attorney at Lawinserted. Alonso’s focus on promoting her art-house project during these problems didn’t sit well with Disney’s leadership.
While some sources suggest Victoria Alonso was made a scapegoat to save Feige, others point to deeper issues — such as a lack of oversight on script development. The person involved withShe-Hulksaid (as perVariety):

“The so-called bad VFX we see was because of half-baked scripts. That is not Victoria. That is Kevin. And even above Kevin. Those issues should be addressed in preproduction. The timeline is not allowing the Marvel executives to sit with the material.”
In the case ofShe-Hulk, changes were needed due to the character’s transformation scene being moved to the pilot episode. This caused VFX issues in postproduction.

Marvel Crew Overwhelmed by Influx of Productions and Struggles
Not onlyKevin Feigebut the entire Marvel crew is struggling to by the constant influx of productions. Like, this past February, at the world premiere ofQuantumania, attendees were shocked by the poor quality of the CGI.
A veteran power broker who was there said (via Variety),“There were at least 10 scenes where the visual effects had been added at the last minute and were out of focus.”
“It was insane. I’ve never seen something like that in my entire career. Everyone was talking about it. Even the kids of executives were talking about it.”He added.
Marvel films are usually known for tight production schedules, and Feige has a reputation for successfully managing them. However, the level of unfinished work onQuantumaniawas unexpected.
Critics were dismayed by the quality, and even Marvel VFX workers, who had been working long hours (without overtime pay), voted to unionize in September. In this matter, a former Marvel Studios VFX assistant coordinator, Anna George said,“The year 2023 was the straw that broke the camel’s back.”
“The pay and long hours at Marvel were the reason we had to start our unionization process there. The conditions were completely unsustainable.”She added.
