Fans may remember the iconic scene when Cooper cries his heart out when he sees the messages from Earth of his kids all grown up. Well, Nolan recently made a revelation about that scene which made the fans go even crazier for Matthew McConaughey andInterstellar.

Stating that the video messages were already filmed, Nolan revealed (viaX) that the scene shown in the film of Cooper crying was Matthew McConaughey’s live reaction to the prerecorded messages!
“It was always the north star of the film … We filmed McConaughey’s reaction first … he hadn’t seen the video messages—we’d filmed them all in advance, so that everything would be there in the moment … The last piece of the puzzle was a beautiful piece of music by Hans Zimmer that hadn’t really found a place in the film.”
Christopher Nolanfurther continued,
“I think he literally referred to it as “organ doodle” … it was devastating … When the messages stop, the music stops … it’s not the sort of thing that I like to do, but it felt perfect and apt for that moment”
Since the movie was set with the theme of exploration at hand, Nolan even jabbed at the conspiracy theories surrounding the fake moon landing in his film. Regretting that a filmmaker had to address that issue through his films, Nolan gave a perfect clapback to the fake conspiracies.

The whole theory seems to be a testament to humans who could go to extreme lengths to prove their point. Back in 1969, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first two humans to ever set foot on the moon through their mission Apollo 11.
Coincidentally, veteran director Stanely Kubrick released2001: A Space Odysseyin 1968, a year before the moon landing. With the people already accusing NASA of faking the moon landing, conspiracy theorists were now saying that the video evidence was created and directed by none other than Stanley Kubrick! Addressing this issue, Christopher Nolan sat down for an interview withThe Atlantic.
“There’s a part about the ridiculous idea that the moon landings were faked, and I think we were both very struck by how sad it was that the filmmakers felt the need to address such an absurd conspiracy theory, and how that diminished the achievements of everyone involved.”
He further continued,
“This fed very directly into the character of Cooper and his idea that society had started to devalue the spirit of exploration.”
