When Brad Pitt And Tom Cruise Shared The Screen

Stating that it wasn’t bad or anything,Brad Pittrevealed that there was just an underlying competition between the two stars. Although it didn’t ruin their relationship, Pitt admitted that the competition was just a thing holding them back and it was bugging him a lot during filmingInterview with the Vampire.

“I always thought there was this underlying competition that got in the way of any real conversation. It wasn’t nasty by any means, not at all. But it was just there and it bugged me a bit. But I’ll tell you, he catches a lot of shit because he’s on top, but he’s a good actor and he advances in the film. He did it. I mean, you have to respect that.”

Although Tom Cruise did intimidate the actor a bit, there was a whole other reason that Pitt wanted to leave the movie desperately. According to the actor, the sets ofInterview with the Vampirewere so dark and murky that it just didn’t feel right mentally to be present there.

“But then we got to London, and London was dark. London was dead of winter. We’re shooting in Pinewood (Studios), which is an old institution — all the James Bond films. There’s no windows in there. It hasn’t been refabbed in decades. You leave for work in the dark — you go into this cauldron, this mausoleum — and then you come out and it’s dark.”

The actor further continued that one day he just snapped and wanted out of the movie. He called David Geffen who was the producer of the movie to talk out the finer details. Geffen simply motivated Pitt not to leave the movie which the actor had to agree to.

“I’m telling you, one day it broke me. It was like, ‘Life’s too short for this quality of life.’ I called David Geffen, who was a good friend. He was a producer, and he’d just come to visit. I said, ‘David, I can’t do this anymore. I can’t do it. What will it cost me to get out?’ And he goes, very calmly, ‘Forty million dollars.’ And I go, ‘OK, thank you.’ It actually took the anxiety off of me. I was like, ‘I’ve got to man up and ride this through, and that’s what I’m going to do.'”

Turning out to be a good decision,Interview with the Vampireearned a great score of 7.5/10 on IMDB and spurned off a franchise, spin-off, and television series to its name. The 1994 movie starring Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise is available to stream on HBO Max.
