Ardent Fan Explains the Absence of Practical Effects

Amid netizens’ backlash and intense criticism online, a few ardent fans came up with valid explanations for the absence of practical effects in the upcoming movie. Discussing their opinions onX, viewers explained why it was almost impossible for George Miller to use practical elements as he did withCharlize Theron‘s 2015 film.

According to a fans’ explanation, working onMad Max: Fury Roadtook the director almost 15 years to complete. And in today’s fast-paced world, it’s almost impossible to sign actors for such a long period of time. Therefore using CGI instead of practical effects, Miller simply reduced the filming time.

Looks good. CGI looks bad, but the rest looks good

CGI looks pretty mediocre. Casting is a little strange –Anya just feels like a strange casting choice for this type of movie. But the Mad Max universe is fantastic.

Overall, this looks like a potential miss to me at first glance. Would love to be wrong, though.

Sorry guys, not trying to burst your fandom bubble but this looks absolutely terrible. I thought it was a joke. It looks like a bad version of those AI Curious Refuge movie trailers. Be serious, just watch the trailer for Mad Max (1979) and re-watch this monstrosity and let me…

— SUPERNOVO (@champagneNovo)August 17, 2025

Looks like it could be a good story but what’s with all the CGI? This is Mad Max for crying out loud and they’re using special effects from the early 2000s for even simple stunts like jumping a dune buggy over a dune!

— OnYx_RiSen (@theNavyrapper)July 12, 2025

My guess is, as much as Miller would prefer practicals it would just take too long to plan and shoot (Fury Road was 15 years in the making), hence the use of cgi.

Nonetheless, since fans have high expectations fromGeorge Miller, they believe that the CGI is rusty and unworthy. But in reality, a few fans believe the visuals are just fine and quite appealing. Amid mixed opinions, ardent fans claimed theFuriosatrailer is quite promising and has a great storyline.
