Although some of her statements have landed her in some serious controversies over the years, theHarry Potterauthor has recently spoken out against a heinous crime and the injustice to the victim.

J.K. Rowling shared her disgust over the release of a s*x offender without any Jailtime
Sean Hogg, who was accused of s*xually assaulting a minor in a park back in 2018, was recently found guilty by a jury at the High Court in Glasgow. But despite the seriousness of the crime, Hogg wasn’t allotted any Jailtime and was allowed to walk free from the court. According to the judge, sending Hogg to Jail wouldn’t help in his rehabilitation, and considering that he was 17 at the time of the crime, the judge only ordered him to serve 270 hours of Community Service.
And while reflecting on the whole situation,J.K. Rowlingwent on to express her disdain for the whole scenario and bashed the judge’s decision by stating,

“Progressive Scotland 2023, where a man gets no jail time for r*ping a 13-year-old girl in a park. Young Scottish men are effectively being told ‘first time’s free.”
This isn’t the first time that Rowling has reflected on certain matters and unfortunately, she previously found herself in hot water after making some controversial comments against the trans community. But despite the backlash, it seems that the higher executives at HBO have no problem standing beside the author, as Rowling has been included in the upcomingHarry Potterseries.

Despite her previous controversies, J.K. Rowling has been assigned as an executive producer in the upcoming retelling of theHarry Potterstory through the medium of TV. “No, I don’t think this is the forum. That’s a very online conversation, very nuanced and complicated, and not something we’re going to get into. Our priority is what’s on the screen. She’s an executive producer on the show. Her insights are going to be helpful on that.”
