Will Smithdescribed that during one of their therapy sessions, he andJada Smithwere asked to perform an exercise to better understand their priorities. They were given a sheet of paper on which they has the write what matters most to them in their life, from most important to least important.
“One of the greatest arguments Jada and I ever had was in a therapy session around priorities,”he wrote.“Surprisingly, we’d both only written four priorities each,”he went on.“As I read Jada’s, a look of confusion spread across my face. And as she read mine, her eyes swam with tears. In the twenty-five years we’ve been together, I’ve never felt her more injured than in that moment.
When the actor saw his wife’s answer, he was quite confused whereas the talk show host was terribly hurt and angry at Smith’s answer. Where Pinket Smith has written her biggest priorities as her children, her husband, herself, and then finally her family and friends, Will Smith has put down his biggest priority as himself, followed by his wife, then his children, and finally his career.

Jada Smith Was Very Upset With Where Will Smith’s Priorities Lied
After reading this, Jada Smith was very upset with the fact that he would put himself above his own children. To this, Will Smith tried to explain himself by telling her that he would be taking care of their kids by taking care of himself, mentioning that he does not believe that one can be a fit parent if they only take care of their children and neglect their own self and their needs.
“‘What do you mean?’ I said, ‘I love our children as much as you do. I was actually surprised that you put yourself third. That doesn’t make any sense to me. It’s like the airlines: You have to put your mask on first before attempting to assist others. Of course, I will take care of all of y’all, but by taking care of me.’”The actor wrote.
This did not convince the actress, who stated that what he wrote explained a lot about him as a person. The actor went on to say that this was one of the worst arguments they had ever had and this resulted in him having to rethink his own beliefs and values. He added that he had to learn how to better prioritize his family above everything else.
