While he may have had his fair share of ups and downs in his career as an actor in the Hollywood industry, no one can deny just how amazing Mark Wahlberg has been with some of his films, both critically and commercially. So far, the star has made a name for himself by becoming part of some of the iconic films and franchises with some of the most iconic stars and filmmakers.
Having worked with these distinguished individuals in the industry for so long, it’s almost forgettable to remember just how he started off in the industry, which was through the medium of Hip Hop music and Rap. During those times spitting rhymes, seems like he may have gotten in some trouble with one of the greatest Hip Hop artists of all time.
How Eminem Humiliated Mark Wahlberg On Live Television
Before he became one of the biggest names in the Hollywood industry for his outstanding performances in major films,Mark Wahlbergwent by a different name in the Hip Hop scene. With his Rap alias Marky Mark along with his crew Marky Mark and The Funky Bunch, the star became an overnight sensation in the music industry. This was around the time when another Hip Hop artist by the name ofEminemwas coming up in the industry with his rhymes. This created a sort of beef between the two when they met each other.
In an interview withAnthony Bozzain the book Whatever You Say I Am: The Life and Times of Eminem,theLose Yourselfsinger elaborated on this feud that he briefly had with Wahlberg, which started when both of them were part of an episode ofMTV’sTotal Request Live(TRL) in 1999. Here, the artist recalled he was standing away from theUnchartedstar when he was called out by him in a little inconsiderate way. Being Eminem, he took this as an offense, which led him to make a snarky remark about him and his crew. He said:
“Then he comes up and he’s standing on the side when we was off air, and he’s like, ‘What, is there supposed to be some fucking tension in here or something?’ I pretended like I don’t hear him and shit. Then we’re on air and […] I’m like ‘Well, why don’t we stand together like a happy fun bunch.’ So I threw a stab at him. He didn’t want me to say Mark-y. Probably didn’t want me to say funk-y neither”.
While this may not look like much, many of the audience said it looked like a straight insult by the Rap artist towards theTransformers: The Last Knightstar.
Did The Stars Settle Their Feud?
After a long while, when the dust had settled down a little, Wahlberg opened up about the fact that the reason why he was a little wary about Eminem was because back in the day, he was in denial the8 Milestar was better at the rap game than he was. This led to him taking a stand-offish stance around him.
But since then, it has been reported that ever since the two met at an MTV event in the past and talked with each other about his jealousy towards him, they have ended their beef ever since. Wahlberg also accepted the fact that he had not given the rapper enough credit in the past when it was obviously due.
