Despite the lukewarm responses forAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror salvaged the reputation of Marvel a little bit with his impressive villainous turn. Soon after though, the franchise hit a roadblock, with Majors being accused of violence, assault, and aggravated harassment against an alleged girlfriend.

While the Marvel actor is still embroiled in an ongoing trial, his gig with the MCU was expectedly under threat, with the studio looking to replace him for their future projects includingAvengers: Secret Wars, while also allegedly givingMads Mikkelsenwho has reportedly been approached to play Dr Doom, more prominence. On the other side of the coin though, it is rumored that Marvel could, in fact, stand by Jonathan Majors to take Kang forward in the franchise.

Will Marvel Back Jonathan Majors And The Kang Storyline?
Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror, who first made an appearance inAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,was the only bright spark in what was considered an average MCU film, judging by box office collections and audience reactions. The film laid the foundation for Majors to take his character forward in the future narratives in the MCU includingAvengers: Secret Wars, where Kang would feature as the prominent antagonist.
Unfortunately, with theCreed 3star currently facing a trial for domestic violence and assault, MCU’s plans to develop Kang through the phases are now in doubt. While there are unconfirmed reports that the franchise is looking to replace Majors, there are also speculations that the Kang storyline could be dropped to provide a significant platform for Marvel’s Dr Doom to take over as the antagonist.

According to reports coming in, Marvel has approached Danish star Mads Mikkelsen to play the role of Dr Doom for the future MCU movies. There are also speculations that the character might make an appearance inThe Fantastic Four. Conversely, rumors have it that Marvel is still willing to give a long rope to Jonathan Majors and the Kang saga, despite the troubles that the actor is facing now. With no definite confirmation about any of these factors as yet, it remains to be seen how the fate of Kang pans out.

On one hand, reports indicate that the franchise will continue to support Majors through this period and keep the Kang storyline intact. Alternatively, there are speculations that the actor will be replaced.

While many felt the storyline warranted a continuation with Majors, others believed that the character must be recast. Just recast already. Kang is probably the easiest character to recast. Hell, just have them say that not all Kang variants look the same, it would make sense.

With or without Jonathan Majors, fans’ reactions suggest that the Kang storyline is an important cog in the MCU wheel, and must be continued and culminated in proper fashion. The ball is now completely in Marvel’s court regarding the decision they will make.
