According to an official statement from Sony, they have assured fans that there was a valid reason for doing so and that theKOTORremake is still proceeding as planned

What’s the latest with theStar Wars KOTORremake?

WhenStar Warsfans heard the news about Sony removing trailers. no doubt many feared the worst and thought that this was the end of the remake. Thankfully that is not the case, as confirmed by Sony.

A spokesperson stated that it was simply down to an issue with licensing;

The only licensed music from the reveal trailer was that of the Star Wars Theme Music, so we can only surmise that Disney as owners have stepped in following the expiration of the license.

There may be a collective sigh of relief from fans worldwide that the remake still looks to be going ahead. But one thing the Sony statement doesn’t address is the removal of Tweets referencing the remake from the official PlayStation account.

One Twitter/X user@Crusader3456went further with investigations and found that all tweets relating to the 2021 reveal trailer had been deleted. However, there is still mention of theStar Warsremake back in September 2021 from the PlayStation showcase.

So why all the secrecy? Well, it has been suggested that Saber Interactive who were brought in to assist Aspyr in the development of the game, are no longer attached.

Following the initial announcement of the remake in 2021, there was a report which stated that it would be delayed due to ‘restructuring’ at Developers Aspyr.

What is interesting is that Embracer, which became Aspyr’s Parent Company, announced that it would be closing and restructuring some of its studios earlier this year. With this move, Embracer forecasted that they would be moving from a ‘heavy-investment mode’ to a ‘highly cash-flow generative business’.

Could this development be a catalyst for Saber to part ways with this project? At the time of writing, there is no confirmation that this is indeed what has happened. And as it stands, theKOTORremake still looks to be proceedings as planned.
