Doug Liman’s 2005 action-comedyMr. & Mrs. Smithwas a major success grossing over $487.3 million at the box office against the production budget of $110 million. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie starrer movie has certainly created a huge fanbase and the movie is still praised by fans.
Keeping the popularity and success of the movie in mind, Amazon Studios is all set to bring back the characters in the upcoming 2024 series of the same name. The new show will star Donald Glover as John Smith and Maya Erskine as Jane Smith— the assassins couple. The first look of the show was recently unveiled and fans have a mixed reaction to it.

Mr. & Mrs. SmithRemake Poster Revealed
Amazon Studios unveiled the first look of theMr. & Mrs. Smithtelevision remake poster starringDonald GloverandMaya Erskine. After a long delay, the studio is all set to release the show in 2024.Atlantastar Glover earlier stated that the show has been very close to the actor.
“I worked on that show for six months fully in heart and mind and really cared about it — still care about it – and I know it’s gonna be brilliant. But sometimes it’s about knowing when to leave the party. You don’t want to get in the way of a vision. Creative collaboration is like a marriage, and some marriages don’t work out,”Glover said of Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s departure from the show (viaGQ).
The show will follow John and Jane,“who have given up their identities to be thrown together as partners — in espionage and in marriage. Matched by a mysterious agency, each episode follows them on a new mission and new milestone in their relationship,”according toAmazon (via GQ). The duo must stick together and the adventure is intended to be a fun ride for fans. However, as the first look revealed fans are not quite happy with it.

After a long delay,Mr. & Mrs. Smithtelevision reboot is all set to debut on Prime Videos. The first look shows Glover and Erskine in a photo frame placed on a table with a kitchen knife and drops of blood. With the title card, the new duo urged fans to be ready for the trailer release. However, many fans are not happy with the making of the show. Of course,Brad PittandAngelina Joliecan never be replaced as the iconic duo playing the same characters but time will tell how the new actors will pull it off maintaining the essence of comedy in it with the elegant action.

Created by Francesca Sloane and Glover, the show will also star Parker Posey, Wagner Moura, Michaela Coel, John Turturro, Paul Dano, Alexander Skarsgård, Eiza González, Sarah Paulson, Sharon Horgan, Ron Perlman, Billy Campbell, Ursula Corbero. Reportedly, all eight episodes of the series are scheduled to be released on August 22, 2025, on Prime Video.
