An Acadamy Award-winning actress and a renowned producer, Nicole Kidman has had a flourishing career in Hollywood, and just as successful of a marriage with her current husband, Keith Urban. But before she tied the knot with him,The Undoingstar had been married toTom Cruisefor more than ten years.
While Kidman and Cruise went their separate ways in 2001 after a devastating divorce, the two had been madly in love during their relationship. So much so, that Kidman, who had been a devout Catholic before her marriage to theTop Gun 2star, ended up turning to The Church of Scientology, which happened to be a valuable part of Cruise’s faith.

The Northmanstar went ahead to study Scientology courses, immersing herself completely in the religion to which her ex-husband had dedicated a major chunk of his life. She ultimately managed to hold an esteemed position in the church’s ranks. And in an interview withDaily Beast, Tony Ortega, a journalist renowned for his coverage of The Church of Scientology, attested to Kidman’s unwavering loyalty toward Cruise and his religion.
“She did Scientology courses. She was really dedicated. I talked to her auditor, Bruce Hines, and she got all the way up to OT (Operating Thetan) II in two years. That means she was doing Scientology pretty much full-time for two straight years.”

But it seems that all her toils went to waste since it was the same Church of Scientology that was rumored to have been the catalyst in Kidman and Cruise’s divorce.

Why Did Nicole Kidman And Tom Cruise Get Divorced?
In February 2001, theJack Reacherstar filed for a divorce due to“irreconcilable differences”between him andNicole Kidman, after which Cruise put in a plea for joint custody of their adopted kids, Connor and Isabella Cruise. Ever since then, both the stars have been tight-lipped at large when it comes to their relationship.
Several sources during that time cited that Cruise’s staunch beliefs in Scientology ended up fragmenting his marriage with theMoulin Rouge!star. Then there were rumors claiming that it was Kidman’s refusal to become a member of the award-winning actor’s religion which led him to divorce her.

While neither Kidman nor Cruise addressed any of those rumors, the former did give her rare two cents on their split in a cover story withHarper’s Bazaar.“I was young,”the 55-year-old actress said concerning her separation from theJerry Maguirestar.
Nicole Kidman is currently in a happy relationship with popular musician Keith Urban, whom she married in 2006. They have two beautiful daughters, Sunday, 14, and Faith, 12.
