One Piece Episode 1129 begins with the Marines on Egghead Island retreating to avoid getting caught in the chaos caused by Gorosei Saint Jaygarcia Saturn. After quickly recovering from Bonney’s surprise attack, Saturn captures her. Sanji tries to save Bonney but is instantly knocked out by Saturn’s glare. Just as Saturn moves to finish off Luffy, Franky steps in and rescues him at the last moment.
Saturn then reveals that Kuma is the last known survivor of the Buccaneer race. He orders the remaining Marines to aim for Bonney’s head, just as she remembers a conversation she had with Kuma about Sun God Nika. The episode then shifts to aflashback of Kuma’s childhood, revealing that he was born in the South Blue 47 years ago. Because of their Buccaneer blood, Kuma and his parents were enslaved by the Celestial Dragons at a young age.
Kuma’s mother died shortly after being captured. To lift Kuma’s spirits, his father told him stories about Nika, the Sun God. But while singing about Nika, he was shot and killed in front of Kuma for making too much noise. The flashback then jumps to 38 years ago in God Valley.
