The Pokemon TCG Black Bolt and White Flare are split expansions of the Scarlet and Violet series and the fifth overall set released during the Scarlet and Violet era of the Pokemon Trading Card Game. The split expansions, named Pokemon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt and Pokemon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—White Flare, will get an English release onJuly 18, 2025. This will follow the Japanese release of the set onJune 6, 2025.
Currently, the most recent expansion of the Pokemon Trading Card Game is Destined Rivals, with some of the cards in that expansion becoming meta staples likeTeam Rocket’s Mewtwo exandEthan’s Typhlosion. These cards have already seen some success in the Japanese Pokemon TCG meta.
Pokemon TCG: Black Bolt and White Flare Split Expansion Cards
The latest expansion of the Pokemon TCG focuses primarily on Pokemon and characters from the Generation V games — Pokemon Black and White. With over 170 cards in each split set, all the Pokemon from the Unova games are included as part of this combined expansion.
This marks the first time a split expansion makes its way to the Western world. Also, this is the first time a Japanese main set will be localized as an English special expansion.
