Titanicwas the movie that launched Winslet, along with Leonardo DiCaprio, into stardom and its success carries with her to this day. The movie follows the romance of the doe-eyed socialite Rose played by Winslet, and DiCaprio, who played Jack. The movie did exceptionally well at the box office, becoming the first ever movie to make more than $1 billion, and went on to go down in history as one of the classics. During a 2012 interview,Kate Winslettalked about what it is like for her to rewatch one of her best-made films,Titanic. The actress mentioned that the entire process of rewatching her acting is quite stressful for her as she is quite critical of herself. When asked if there was a particular scene that caused her to feel this way, she replied saying that it was all of them.
“I’m like, ‘Ugh, really? Really? You did it like that? Oh my god,'”Winslet said, wincing. “And even my American accent, I look at it and I’m like, ‘Ugh, I can’t even listen to myself.’ It’s awful, hopefully, it’s so much better now.”she went on,“It sounds terribly self-indulgent, but actors do, I think, tend to be pretty self-critical, and I have a very hard time watching myself anyway,”she added.“But no, my god, I watch Titanic and just think, ‘Ah, I want to do that bit again. Can’t we go again? Please? One more take?'”
She went on to say that she has grown so much as an actress that she can’t help but be critical of her older work, which makes her want to reshoot the entire project now that she has refined her skill years later.
