The quest starts off with the Wise Old Man asking you to bring him some Antlers so that he can start a tracking spell. If you don’t have Antlers in your inventory, go out into the world and kill some deer to find the resource.
When you return to the quest giver with the Antlers, he will ask you to find Cathan. An experienced hunter, Cathan went on a solo mission to bring down Velgar. The wise Old Man will point you towards a castle where you can learn more.

Tips To Defeat Velgar
Velgar has three types of attacks that you need to be prepared for when facing the beast. The first is a slam and spike attack. The slam stuns you, and then spikes jut out of the ground to do additional damage. Use the Win shield to cover yourself against these attacks.
Poison meteor is another one of its attacks, where the dragon takes flight and rains down poison rain on you. Dodge out of the way and avoid coming into contact with the toxic puddles that this attack causes on the ground.
Velgar can also unleash its Poison Breath attack that can do severe damage to you if you’re not careful. Make sure you prepare for this by taking Antipoison Potion or Anti-Poison Food. These precautions should minimize the health damage that this particular attack causes.
