Kate Winslet Praises James Cameron For Making Some Of The Strongest Female Characters In His Films
Most popular for playing the role ofRose Dewitt Bukater in the global blockbusterTitanic,Hollywood starKate Winslethas given a performance of her lifetime once before, and that too with none other than filmmaking legendJames Cameron. This duo, along with Leonardo DiCaprio, brought us a film that created a worldwide sensation, which became the fourth highest-grossing film of all time. And almost 25 years later, Winslet returned to work with theTerminatordirector inAvatar: The Way Of Water, where she couldn’t help but admire Cameron’s work yet again.
In a past interview, theRevolutionary Roadstar talked about how she was finally back to work with the legendary director in the sequel of the film that holds the title of the most commercially successful movie of all time. Along with new and groundbreaking methods of cinematography that were employed, Winslet also praised the creation of strong female characters by Cameron, especially her on-screen character Ronal. In the interview, she said:

“His screenplays are so powerful, and always because at the heart is a strong woman. And it’s not just that that woman is emotionally strong. She’s physically strong. She’s resilient. She’s a leader. She’s capable. She’s loving. She’s welcoming. She’s kind. She’s compassionate. AndAvataris just full of female characters like that. And that’s the world I want to live in! That’s the mother I want to always be. So I was very inspired by those themes, because they really do underpin the narrative.”
Along with her character, Zoe Saldana’s character of Neytiri also presents these qualities in her, which shows just how well the character creation and development are executed by the filmmaker.

After more than a decade of impatiently waiting for it, the sequel to the commercially and critically acclaimed film was finally released in 2022, and with its successful run in cinemas,Avatar: The Way Of Waterbecame the third highest-grossing film of all time. Now, as stated by Cameron, the development of theAvatarfranchise is at hand, which means there are new lands to explore and new tribes to meet on the planet of Pandora in the upcoming films.
