Most hit movies usually get a sequel; in the MCU, sequels pop up even before you know it. However, one of MCU’s biggest hits, greatly deserving of a sequel was a little late to the party, and fans are irked. 2021’sShang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Ringsgripped MCU fanatics with its MMA-focused narrative, much like the Bruce Lee era. This new taste of the superhero verse left fans wanting more.

However, unlike theSpider-ManorAvengersfranchise, which usually got sequels within a two-year timeline,Shang-Chi 2is in talks to start production in 2024-2025. Hence, a five-year-long wait to see Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi battle his past. Although the sequel’s plot is not yet ready, it is expected to be continued in the Multiverse. Reacting to the announcement on Twitter, the fans shared their point of view.

Shang-Chi finally gets a reprise
Despite the immediate commercial success of the Destin Cretton-led film, Marvel managed to look pastShang-Chi’s journey. It is one of those MCU movies that deserved a swift sequel. The film collected an impressive $432.2 million at the box office, perThe Numbers. Moreover, it opened at $29.6 million which was a pretty good number, given it was released amid the Covid-19 pandemic, perScreenRant.
Apart from the numbers,Shang-Chiwas also well-received by the audience which instantly gave way to speculations on its sequel. Quite the opposite, Marvel teased to begin production within the next two years. Therefore, a Twitter post declaring the news forShang-Chi 2garnered a great deal of attention. Twitter user, Matt Ramos re-shared the post with a meaningful insight. He tweeted,

respectfully, shang-chi was one of the best mcu films post endgame & we shouldn’t have to wait at least half a decade for a sequel🫶❤️https://t.co/jBl7qgnDYR

Notably,Simu Liu’s impeccable performance as Shang-Chi left the world in awe. He also appeared in the recentBarbiemovie as one of the Kens. Originally from China, Liu and his family moved to Canada early in his life. Unfortunately, his Marvel blockbuster was not released in China owing to a previous controversy.
As perCBC, Liu had opened up about his immigration journey, making a few comments on China’s state of affairs. This act urged the Chinese government to ban the movie from releasing in the country. Regardless,Shang-Chidid well even without China, per ScreenRant.

To be fair, we’ve been getting sequels that have taken longer. Antman 2 was 5 years ago, Captain Marvel was 4 years ago, Guardians 2 was 6 years ago, Doctor Strange was 7 years ago etc.
