Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning are becoming more widely used tools in the entertainment sector as a result of the rapid advancement of technology. These cutting-edge technologies have recently been used bySpider-Man: Across the Spider-VerseandSecret Invasionto give fans an even more engaging viewing experience.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

Sony Pictures Animation used machine learning algorithms to develop a distinctive animation style forAcross the Spider-Verse, giving the movie a standout appearance. The AI-driven process gave the team more control over the movie’s aesthetic, allowing them to adjust line density, roughness, and other elements that affected its overall visual design.

Similarly, AI has been used to speed up production on Marvel’s recently released series,Secret Invasion. The first episode was released on 14 July 2025 (yesterday) on Disney+.

How Internet React To MCU Fans DefendSecret InvasionAI Intro

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is among the best-known film series in history. They have consistently produced blockbuster shows, and their latest one,Secret Invasion,is no different.

Despite how the first episode is performing so far, some viewers have already criticized the use of artificial intelligence in the opening scene. These criticisms, however, have recently received a response on the internet.

For the unversed, Disney+ premiered Marvel Studios’Secret Invasionon Wednesday morning. The premiere featured an opening sequence that emphasized the mystery of the show: how shape-shifting aliens had infiltrated Earth.

Soon after the episode aired, information that the opening scene had been produced using AI surfaced. And this has prompted outrage on social media among viewers who speculated that it had cost artists their jobs.

However, recently, the internet reacted to MCU fans, who quickly defended theSecret InvasionAI intro by comparing it toSpider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

people trying to justify it by saying spiderverse used AI tools are fundamentally misunderstanding the point. spiderverse utilized machine learning to help the human artists do their job easier. secret invasion used AI art that rips from real artists with no actual effort put in.https://t.co/KnTZjTf8Vi

the AI tools they used for spiderverse aren’t built off of stealing art from human artists, theyre tools that make doing 3D art easier for the humans behind the screen.

AI art software unethically steals from real artists without telling them, let alone compensating them.

a good comparison for how spiderverse used ai is using spellcheck on an essay and then doing a final passover to verify everything still flows. it just removed tedium, and there was still someone making sure it didnt go awry.

We don’t know the exact methods they used. Saying they “ripped off” other artists feels a bit of an over reach. It could’ve been their own data set used. Considering the legal grey area this all is in, I doubt Disney would openly walk into a lawsuit.

I feel like a lot of people who like totally disregard AI in any capacity misunderstand the fact that it’s a tool it’s only as evil as you make it be. Like the way spider verse used it as long as he the perfect example of how you should use AI.

Moreover, the company that created the opening sequence, Method Studios, recently addressed those rumors about the use of AI. According to a statement from Method to The Hollywood Reporter:

“AI is just one tool among the array of toolsets our artists used. No artists’ jobs were replaced by incorporating these new tools; instead, they complemented and assisted our creative teams.”

The Use Of AI InSecret InvasionTo Create Its Opening Credits

Director and executive producer ofSecret Invasion,Ali Selimtold Polygon that the use of AI fits into the themes of the program.

“When we reached out to the AI vendors, that was part of it — it just came right out of the shape-shifting, Skrull world identity, you know? Who did this? Who is this?”

Like many other people, Selim claimed he does not “really understand”how artificial intelligence operates. But he was intrigued by the ways in which the AI could convey the sense of dread he desired for the series.

“We would talk to them about ideas and themes and words, and then the computer would go off and do something. And then we could change it a little bit by using words, and it would change.”

Well, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the film industry is increasing, and it has the potential to be a powerful tool for creating distinctive and compelling visuals.

Furthermore, theSecret InvasionAI intro represents a relatively small portion of the entire series and should not be used to judge the series’ overall quality. So let us unwind, sit back, and take in the breathtaking images that contemporary technology can bring to our screens.

Secret Invasion‘s first episode has already been released on Disney+.
