According to an investigative report published byVanity Fair, the star had his eyes set onModern FamilystarSofia Vergaraand asked his close friend, Will Smith to introduce them at a pre-Oscars party. In an interview with theNew York Post, Tom Cruise’s biographer, Andrew Morton claimed:
“She was dazzled by Tom’s megawatt smile and amused by the blizzard of phone calls, flowers, and chocolates that followed their first meeting.”
However, Vergara was not easy to impress, mostly because she was being asked to convert from Catholicism to Scientology. This pulled back the curtains for her as she was reported to quickly walk away from the situation before it progressed any further. As reported by an insider,“She was fundamentally terrified of Scientology. She sincerely believed that she would be struck down by God and burn in hell if she joined.”
Tom Cruise Faces the Aftermath of Failed Relationships Alone
Despite Scientology’s hands-on involvement in his relationships, Tom Cruise remains singularly single since his divorce fromKatie Holmes.
