Avengers: Infinity WarandAvengers: Endgameof the most memorable films to come out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This isn’t only because they brought about the conclusion to a story that has been building up for a decade. The biggest reason fans adore this film as much as they do is pretty simple. These two movies have some of the best cinematography, action, sequences, characters, and plots, not to mention the shock factor.
Another reason why these movies were as good as they were was because of their villain, Thanos. Having one of the most complex ideologies and being overly powerful, is the reason why the franchise has found it difficult to replicate him ever since. Despite this, and how iconic he was, it is interesting to find out that the writers at Marvel Studios just wanted to kill him off, getting frustrated due to the second film from the duo.

Avengers: Infinity WarLeft A Big Problem For Marvel Writers
Avengers: Infinity Warsounds very simple on paper. a group of Earth’s protectors try to stop the Mad Titan from getting all six of the infinity stones. The entire two-and-a-half hours of this film are centered around the plot, with subplots for the characters’ personal stories. This may sound simple, but it worked perfectly for this movie, being completely different from past projects and having very high stakes.
“What is a two-hour movie, where you’re playing cat and mouse with that guy or trying to get him, or punch him in the face, or steal stones from him? Like, anything he does — even in the comics, which are lovely, he just sort of decides to tie one hand behind his back. You know, that’s how it’s solved there. So, at one point in the room, everyone’s getting real frustrated, ‘What is the story here?'”
The problem that came about was when the writers at Marvel Studios were trying to figure out what plot should follow up this forAvengers: Endgame. InThe Audio Commentaryof this film, writer and producer, Stephen McFeely revealed that if they tried to follow a similar pattern for the sequel, it would get very repetitive very quickly. He revealed that every plot that they were trying to figure out for this movie, ended up leading to nowhere.

The Writers Got Frustrated And Wanted To Kill Thanos
Naturally, this caused quite a lot of frustration in the writers’s room. Being as frustrated as they were, the executive producer, Trinh Tran, said out loud that they only wished that they could just kill Thanos’s character. When she said this, everyone in the room, stopped for a second and asked if could this be possible.
“I think Trinh Tran, our executive producer, just said, ‘God, I really wish we could just kill him.’ And we all went, ‘Wait a second. Could you?'”McFeely explained.“It sent us down this whole road, where we solved the issue in the first, what, 12 minutes?”
This ended up leading the writers down the road to one of the most beautiful plots. Stephen McFeely revealed that the plot that the thought would cause a huge problem forAvengers: Endgame, ended up, getting solved in 12 minutes. This is exactly what happened not even half an hour into the film. Thanos’s head is chopped off by Thor, leaving the audience speechless and frustrated at the same time.
