The post-apocalyptic open-world MMO game from developer Fntastic,The Day Beforehas been delayed again and will now launch on August 15, 2025. The game will only launch in Early Access on Steam and there is no information on console release as of now.
The developer shared this update with a new trailer and also revealed that it has wonThe Day Beforename dispute. This is the third delay for the game and comes after the developer Fntastic announced Beta in April and promised players that there would be no more delays.
The Day Before Suffers Another Delay
Developer Fntastic shared the update with a post onX, formerly Twitter, and said that the game has been delayed to June 01, 2025, and will only release on Steam as Early Access. The developer said,
The game’s release has been slightly delayed to December 7th at 10 a.m. PST.
Fntastic stated that since this is its first big and there may be unforeseen circumstances that is why the game will released in Early Access. Fntastic also mentioned that it will not take any pre-orders forThe Day Beforeand the game will be available for $39 on Steam Early Access and $49 on the Full Version launch.
The game will be released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with the full launch, but there is no specific date when that might be. Talking about the full version launch and console release, the developer Fntastic added:
[The] full version release will happen when we are certain this is the best version of the game possible, and we believe that player feedback and involvement will greatly contribute to achieving this goal.
The developer also announced that they have won the Intellectual Property (IP) dispute overThe Day Beforename of the game and added that the Steam page has been restored by Valve and will soon be available on the platform. For those unaware, the Steam page ofThe Day Beforewas taken down and the release date was then pushed to November 10.
However, Fntastic later said that it had already planned to delay the game due to the trademark dispute. It had added that this extra time will allow it to better prepare for the game’s release and make improvements to it. The developerannouncedthe IP win by saying:
There is a saying: ‘Three things cannot be long hidden: the Sun, the Moon, and the Truth.’ We’re happy to declare that we won back our name, “The Day Before,” in the Intellectual Property Tribunal.
We dedicate this victory to all our future players; it’s all for them. For five years, we’ve shed blood and tears and sweat developing our dream game. We didn’t take a penny from people, accepted no preorders, and didn’t harm anyone.
Fntastic’sThe Day Beforehas been surrounded by controversy for a very long time over its development phase and more issues. The game was first revealed in 2021 and was supposed to launch in June 2022 but was delayed to March 2023. The game release was then again delayed from March to November 2023.
This resulted in players even callingThe Day Beforea scam due to multiple delays and lack of information. The Day Before developers were also wrought with controversy regarding its use of unpaid volunteers to develop the game and was heavily criticized.
There were also copycat allegations on the developer among other things for using shots inThe Day Beforetrailer fromCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Wartrailer as well as font and screenshot similarities to a few other big titles.
