Since the announcement, many have been hoping that Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of“Avatar: The Last Airbender”will bring one of the best animated programs ever back to life. During Geeked Week 2023, Netflix released the debut date and first teaser trailer for its live-action version ofAvatar: The Last Airbender. The show was announced in 2018, but production did not begin until 2021 because of the COVID-19 epidemic. TheAvatar: The Last Airbenderlive-action series may be able to continue proving that great stories can be reinterpreted for new audiences with stunning costumes, out-of-this-world CGI, and a wonderful cast.

Avatar: The Last Airbenderis scheduled to premiere on June 10, 2025.Avatar: The Last Airbender, directed by Albert Kim, will adapt the key events of the animated series. The cast this time involves some new faces and obviously, the most anticipated question was who plays Aang in the series. But there is another member who might steal the show.

Gordon Cormier Stars as Avatar Aang
For those who don’t know, Aang is the series’ title character and protagonist and he is being played by Gordon Cormier in the upcoming Netflix series. Gordon Kyle Diez Cormier is a young actor from Canada. He was raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, and has appeared in a Canadian animated series. He made his film debut inGet Shorty (2017)as a Guatemalan Urchin. He was also in the 2018 filmLost in Space. He also appeared in the 2020 filmThe Standas Joe. He is the perfect fit for the role of Aang as Aang is a twelve-year-old free-spirited and peaceful Airbender who was imprisoned in ice for a hundred years.
He is the human manifestation of the “Avatar,” the spirit of light and harmony. As the Avatar, Aang wields mastery over all four elements and is tasked with restoring balance and maintaining peace among the Four Nations. There is one other actor for the fans to look out for. Her name is Maria Zhang and she plays the role of Suki in the upcoming series.

Maria Zhang Plays Suki in the Upcoming Series
Maria Zhang is set to appear as Suki in the upcoming 2024 live-action television series titledAvatar: The Last Airbender. Maria, born Zhiyi Zhang, is a Chinese-Polish actress. Zhang appeared in the short filmAll I Ever Wanted, which was released in 2021. The film was an official selection of the Asian Pacific Film Festival in Los Angeles. She’s also appeared in the filmsWorkInProgress: A Comedy, Dear Mom, and Continuum. She portrays Suki, the leader of one of the Earth Kingdom’s Kyoshi Warrior bands on Kyoshi Island. Her fellow warriors admired her for her leadership and combat abilities.
The other cast members include Kiawentiio Tarbell as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, Dallas James Liu as Zuko, Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai, and Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Uncle Iroh. The cast surely makes the upcoming adaptation series more interesting and Avatar fans can’t wait for the series to get released.
