The Marvel Cinematic Universe used to be at the apex of the world of Cinema at one time, especially thanks to the massive hit of theAvengersfilms. Since 2008’sIron Man, fans were immediately drawn into the world created by several talented people, as it was evident they were planning something incredible.

All of that culminated in 2019’sAvengers: Endgame, as it brought an end to many stories and it was truly the perfect gift for fans, who were watching every single Marvel Cinematic movie since 2008. The MarvelsFailed To Make An Impact At The Box Office
The Marvelsfeaturing Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, and Teyonah Parris, made its debut on November 10th, 2023. Despite the star-studded cast, the film failed to deliver on all accounts, which was a sign that fans were genuinely tired of the same tropes Marvel has been doing for the last four years.
As perVariety, the film made the record for the lowest-grossing domestic weekend opening for any Marvel movie in history, as it crossed just $47 million domestically. It also has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 62% and IMDB of 6/10, making it just above average at best.

According toThe Hollywood Reporter, the movie received a 78-80% drop-off in its second weekend at the box office, making it the worst drop of any Hollywood superhero movie ever. Therefore, it’s no exaggeration to say the film continues to fail in every single way.

Nia DaCosta directedThe Marvels– something that many fans feel she shouldn’t ever mention ever again. That said, a pro-Marvel Twitter account desperately tried to spin the fact that the film grossed over $110M during its worldwide box office opening weekend as a positive. They did so by noting that it was the highest-grossing theatrical release of all time by a Black woman director.

Naturally, the account was just trying to clutch at straws knowing how badly the film has performed so far. Fans on Twitter were not having it, as they were aware of how much the account was reaching and blasted the poster without mercy.

So… Nia DaCosta’s highest grossing theatrical release is also the biggest flop in Marvel history?I wouldn’t know how to take this…
This post is an embarrassment. She disowned the movie, saying it was a Kevin Feige movie – and she’s actually correct about that. Also, this movie is the biggest single financial loss in the history of Hollywood cinema – even adjusted for inflation.So,1) either she…
Also, the biggest loss as well.
The highest grossing theatrical release of all time by a Black woman director that will lose the most money.
The Marvelsis on track to continue becoming a disappointment at the Box Office and it is unlikely the film will remain in theaters for long. Regardless, fans certainly hope this comes as a wake-up call for Marvel so that they can improve future moves in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
