Emily Blunt Shared Disappointing Sequel Updates
Finally, Emily Blunt addressed fans’ curiosity over the 2014 movie’s sequel and admitted that she has been speaking with Doug Liman. During her discussion withVariety, the actress stated that Tom Cruise has been eagerly waiting to reprise his role as Major William Cage, just like Blunt has been waiting to return as Rita.
However, despite their willingness to return, there have been certain issues with the plot of the sequel that cannot be ignored. According toEmily Blunt, as she has been speaking with the director, the actress admitted that they are facing age issues with the scripts. Blunt acknowledged that any script that may exist today, wouldn’t be able to work.

“Doug [Liman] and I talk all the time about it. I know Tom wants to do it, hopefully, at some point. But it’s timing, but it’s also been 10 years since we made it. There was an amazing script in the works, but I think it would only have worked if we shot it eight years ago. I’m not saying we’re that ancient, but you have to factor in it’s been 10 years.”
