The 2016 film titledPatriots Daydepicted the story of an FBI agent teaming up with police officers to find the two brothers who detonated bombs at the Boston marathon. With an intriguing storyline at hand, the film only managed to earn $52 million at the global box office against a budget of $45 million.

Despite not being successful financially, the movie received great reviews and according to Mark Wahlberg, remains one of his most important films of all time. Speaking toEntertainment Weekly,the actor talked about how films like these are the ones that truly matter.
“When you’re making a movie about something like this, it really becomes about the story, the people, and not your own individual experience. These are the ones that really matter.”

Furthering his interview,Mark Wahlbergtalked about how the 2013 Boston bombing created a sense of community and support after the incident when he interviewed the people to add more realism to his film.

After stating the importance of the movie, Wahlberg further talked about how he takes care to take all his movies very seriously. During his talks, however, Wahlberg confessed thatPatriots Dayis something much more important than anything that he had been a part of before.

“Obviously, I’m very serious about all the movies that I make and I want them all to be successful, and I want them all to work and serve their purpose, but this is so much more important than anything I’ve ever been a part of.”
After visiting the city to get a sense of realism for his movies, Wahlberg revealed how the bombing had changed the people.
“This act of real tragedy had an unintended consequence to build feelings of love and support,”
Patriots Dayreceived a rating of 7.3/10 on IMDB and a rating of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes and is available to stream on Hulu in the U.S.
