For a long time in the film industry, there have been no major changes or revolutionary additions in terms of cinematic projects from major production companies or studios, until recently, when the world was taken by a sea of pink as the highly-anticipatedBarbiereleased in cinemas. And now, no matter where a person turns, they cannot help but see the film’s presence in pop culture around them.

And where on one hand, the entire world is praising and admiring the execution of director Greta Gerwig on the film, there are some who seem to not be too impressed by it. One of them happens to be an MCU star, who feels that the success of this film will give rise to more films in the future, which can be a bad move that’ll affect the entire industry.

In a recent interview, theWandaVisonstar talked about how hard it was for him, especially belonging to the Asian community, to make it this far in the industry, and what are the things that followed as a result. Here, he also opened up about how Hollywood seems to get basic things wrong most of the time. Taking an example ofGreta Gerwig‘s latest directorial, the star pointed out how the success of the film will now give rise to more films being made around kids’ toys rather than women’s empowerment, which wasBarbie’smain goal. He said:

“Totally. I feel like, just in general, this industry is taking the wrong lessons. For example, Barbie is this massive blockbuster, and the idea is: Make more movies about toys! No. Make more movies by and about women!”
While Mattel Inc and Warner Bros. may have announced that there will be more Barbie films in the future, we are yet to see how the entire film industry responds to the film’s success.
