It does seem as ifDisneyis gunning for James Cameron in all aspects recently as it has beenannouncedthat his classic 1994 action comedy movieTrueLies is being revived 25 years later by McG on Disney+.

McG, famous for directing theCharlie’s Angelsfranchise, has been attached to direct the revival series since 2017. The series will be executive produced by movie creator James Cameron who is currently only dedicated to be working on theAvatarfranchise. Cameron is currently working onAvatar 2and3while also producing the next Terminator movieTerminator: Dark Fateset to be released this year.
The original 1994 movie starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jamie Lee Curtis, Tom Arnold, Bill Paxton, Art Malik and Tia Carrere. While there is no confirmed details for what the series may entail, McG has stated he’ll be spending the summer writing up the series while also leaving the door open for Schwarzenegger to return in any capacity.

While Disney+ has yet to officially announce the series, the pairing of the Mouse House and the series that isTrue Liesis indeed an odd pairing.
James Cameron is currently facing the possibility of his 20 year all-time box office top spot being dethroned by Disney withAvengers: Endgame, as the film is only just over $165 million away from overtaking the director’s 10-year top movieAvatar.

McG has only recently been making Netflix movies while also directing and executive producing the Freeform seriesShadowhunterspilot episode as well as continuously working as executive producer on The CW seriesSupernaturalsince its creation in 2005.
Disney+hasrecently announcedthe supposed release date of its firstMarveltelevision seriesFalcon & The Winter Soldier,which also reportedly stars Emily Van Camp and Daniel Brauhl and begins the Marvel television serials set in theMarvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 4.

The upcoming streaming service is also set to release a back-catalogue of Disney and 20th Century Fox movies and series as part of their launch of the streaming service in September 2019.
