At the recent Gotham Awards, Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie won the Gotham Global Icon & Creator Tribute awards forBarbie. Gerwig also shared withEntertainment Tonighthow the Gotham Awards held significant importance in her journey as a filmmaker.
”Especially when it comes to independent films in New York – every time I’ve gotten to attend this event, it’s been inspiring and thrilling to see this group of filmmakers come together and honor their work.”

Margot Robbie added to the conversation by comparing herself and Gerwig to Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro/Leonardo DiCaprio, making it clear that she wants to work with Gerwig in future films again.
”We might be the new, you know, Scorsese and De Niro. Or Scorsese and Leo, you know? What I mean to say is, you have to work with me again at least another four times.”
Naturally,Barbiehas shown just how well Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig can work together to create magic in Hollywood. Therefore, fans would definitely love to see the two collaborate again in the future somehow.

“I think we put everything into this one. We didn’t build it to be a trilogy or something. It was like Greta put everything into this movie, so I can’t imagine what would be next.”
Fans are definitely disappointed thatBarbiemight not be getting a sequel at all. That being said, Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig will likely have more projects in the future, so not all hope is lost just yet.
