In a recent interview withBangcast, the author of the well-acclaimed book seriesA Song of Ice and Fire,George R.R. Martin, shared updates about the next book in the series,The Winds of Winter.He shared that he has written around 1,100 pages of the book with“hundreds more pages to go.”
The author acknowledged that he is“12 years late”and has been struggling to finish the book and said,“Maybe I should’ve started writing smaller books when I began this, but it’s tough.”The update comes as a disappointment to many fans, as Martin shared something similar a year ago.

During a 2022 appearance onThe Late Show with Stephen Colbert, George R.R. Martin shared thatThe Winds of Wintercould be the longest book in the series.“I think it’s going to be a very big book,”he said, stating that the sixth volume will have more than 1500 pages.
Along with it, he also said that he was about“three-quarters of the way done”with the book. Considering that he has not made much progress, fans, who have been eagerly waiting for its release, have shared their disappointment with the latest update.

I think i can kinda guess what happened here. He wrote the book and the ending a long time ago and it sucks. He didn’t want to do us like that so he went back writing and re-writing to until it has come out good. But it’s not good.
